Elements of business strategy

The business strategy is the plan that has to make the direction of the organization to establish the guidelines to follow and define the future of the company.  It consists of 5 key aspects:

Mission – What is the purpose of the company? What was it created for? Who is its target audience? What is it dedicated to? What is it for? These are the questions that must be answered, briefly describing the main characteristics of the company and highlighting its added value over the competition.

Vision – Specific to where the organization is going and what it aspires to achieve in a period of time.

Values – These are the essential principles that regulate the organization and govern both individual and group behavior. They are related to the company’s beliefs and professional ethics.

Objectives – These are the goals of the organization. For the company in general they are implemented in the long term, between 3 and 5 years, while for each of the departments it is a medium term period, between 12 and 18 months, and for the members of the team in the short term, between 6 and 12 months.

Value proposition – This is where the company’s competitive advantages have to be explained, i.e. the reasons why the consumer has to prefer it over its competitors, be it price, quality, customer service or personalized service.
